Students Active for Ending Rape (SAFER) has partnered with the Huffington Post this month as part of a larger Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month effort to create dialogue about sexual assault, especially on college campuses. They’ve been doing some great pieces about bringing praise and recognition to student activists and calling attention to administrative shortfalls. The most recent post from SAFER and the HuffPo has to do with ranking colleges and universities based on their sexual assault policies and how they support survivors (if at all). The results are pretty staggering, as an overwhelming number of schools received failing grades.
Where does your school stand on this list? Do their policies support survivors? Does your school have any consent-positive language? If you’re a current student or an alumni, your voice (and your financial support) matters. Call your college and demand that they create a sexual assault policy that is comprehensive and supports survivors.
