Apologies for the lack of posts recently, we’ve been pleasantly busy with rehearsals and trainings for the past couple weeks. Two weeks ago, we welcomed 9 actors to beautiful Portland, ME (Shana doesn’t count, she’s been here the whole time) to begin rehearsals for this season’s Fall Tour. That’s right, 9 actors. Two casts. We’re thrilled and excited to be able to send out, for the first time, two separate casts on two separate tours. We scoured the country and brought in 9 talented actors and educators, and have been working hard under the leadership of long-time Speak About It director, Dave Surkin. See more information about this season’s actors, their backgrounds, and why they’re all involved with Speak About It here.
Last night was our annual pre-tour performance at the Lyric Music Theater in South Portland, where one cast took the stage and put on a stellar performance for an audience of Speak About It rookies (freshmen, if you will) and returners. And they hit it outta the park. This season also marks the first time that Shana won’t be touring with a cast, an exciting but emotional opportunity for growth. Speak About It acting vet Ellen Almirol will be the managing producer for the other cast, and after two weeks of rehearsals, team building, family-style dinners, and lots of laughs, we are proud and excited to send out two incredible groups of educators.
Ellen’s cast will be performing at the following schools: August 29th at Harvard University, August 30-31st at Haverford College, September 2nd at Colby College.
Shana’s cast will be at the following schools: August 25-26th at Cornell University, August 29th at Harvard University, August 30-31st at Trinity College, September 1st at Williams College, September 2nd at Brown University.
The next performances will be September 8th at RISD and September 16th at Hamilton College. If you’re in the area and would like to see a performance, please contact Shana here. We also have a nifty calendar!
