First, we hope everyone has a fun, safe, and relaxing 4th of July weekend! The weather in Maine was hot and humid, but perfect for watching fireworks over the ocean.
This week also marks the halfway point with our summer Orientation series at Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic, CT. We’re excited to be a part of their six different Orientation dates throughout June and July, where we get to meet with smaller groups and build relationships with the awesome Student Orientation Coordinators (or SOCs). And of course, we love every opportunity to get to try out new jokes, most of which have been really well received! Today will be our fourth show in the series and we’re excited to get to meet the rest of the class of 2017 and spend more time with the great SOCs and administrators at Eastern.
You might recognize some familiar faces in this picture, as well as some new ones! We’re so thrilled to have Speak About It vet Nick Smith back in the cast for this summer series. You’ll remember that he left Speak About It in the fall of 2012 to attend medical school. Don’t worry, he’s still in med school and doing a great job, and we’re super lucky and thankful to get to steal him for a few days this summer. You might also recognize Sean Colby who’s joining the cast this season. Another Mainer (Shana’s so outnumbered), you can check out his full bio here, but we’re thrilled to add him to the family!
And, in other social medial news, we’ve officially launched our very own Twitter handle, @wespeakaboutit! We’re hoping to be able to keep in touch with students and student leaders, share photos, follow news updates about sexual assault education and prevention, and continue the dialogue from the show. Be sure to follow us on Twitter and we’ll definitely follow you back!
We’re about a month away from welcoming the two news casts to Portland to begin rehearsals for the fall. We’ve solidified a tour for both casts, renewing a few contracts with familiar schools and getting to meet some new schools. Be sure to keep checking back here, on Facebook, and now on Twitter to keep up with all the action as we prepare for another awesome fall tour.
