Thank you thank you thank you to everyone who came out to Planned Parenthood in Portland last Thursday. We had over 50 people in the audience in the new gallery space, including resources from the Planned Parenthood office downstairs and Sexual Assault Response Services of Southern Maine (SARSSM). We always love doing a local Portland during Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, and this marks our second annual show. This also gives us a chance to add some local color and jokes into the shows, so the audience was surprised with some language about “Craigslist roommates” and “looking for the best bar in Portland,” as well as a couple shouts to the local restaurant scene. We are so thankful for all the community support that we’ve received over the years, and continue to receive, as we grow and evolve. First with our LOVE LIKE WHOA event in February, and now with this show in April, we are so thankful to be a part of a city like Portland that welcomes a conversation about making the community stronger and safer.
Thank you to all who came to the show on Thursday, whether it was to support Speak About It, support a loved one, support a survivor, or just to see the what all the commotion has been about, we appreciate it.
To continue the conversation about sexual assault awareness and prevention, we hope to see you at Portland’s 31st Annual Take Back the Night rally on Friday, April 27th beginning at 6pm in Monument Square.
