Wassail (wsl, w-sl)
The practice of Wassailing has its roots in the middle ages as a reciprocal exchange between the feudal lords and their peasants as a form of recipient initiated charitable giving, to be distinguished from begging.
This year, Speak About It has been invited to participate in the annual PortSports Wassailing Party, to be held on Sunday, January 29th. The Wassailing Party is a food drive, volunteer drive, a fundraiser and a party – a chance to get together for a good cause. This year’s charity is Hear ME Now, a local non-profit that helps children and adults with hearing loss learn to listen and speak.
And they’ve invited Speak About It to participate and spread the word about the work that we’re doing. This will also serve as the launch date for our 2011 Fall Highlight Video, which Shana has been busy editing.
So if you’re free on Sunday (or pencil us in!), come by the PortSports Wassailing Party, meet some incredible local non-profits, chat with some of the current cast members, check out our video (!), and help PortSports with their mission of Meet, Play, Give.
