Policy Changes at Haverford College

December 8, 2011 by SpeakAboutIt

Via our Facebook page, we were recently informed about a petition that has been started by Survivors of Assault and Rape (SOAR) at Haverford College to “pressure the college administration to change its sexual assault and rape policies… [to] support survivors at Haverford and a culture of enthusiastic consent.” They are looking for signatures to present this petition to their administration.

Their petition can be found here.

Change, on college campuses or elsewhere, will only occur of there is a catalyst to encourage it. These students, members of SOAR and the greater Haverford community (as parents, alumni, friends and supporters), are actively influencing the language, policy and culture on their campus around sexual violence and consent. They are voicing their concerns, their requests for change, their criticisms of the status quo, all to make their college a better and safer place. This is the message that Speak About It will always support, and we encourage you all to do the same by signing their petition.
