The air is crisp, pumpkin and fall flavors are making their way into many delicious dishes, and the cast is siked to continue touring!
The dust has settled from the bulk of our fall tour, as we wrapped up the performance at Colby College last Tuesday. They were an incredible audience, despite the 500 “boos!” when we were announced as being a Bowdoin-bred performance. Gotta love that Maine rivalry though! We had a wonderful time returning to Colby (we were there in April to help spur their peer health program) and it was a treat to meet some fellow Bowdoin grads hiding in the Colby administration. We followed up with a small celebration among the cast, as the Colby performance was our fifth performance in ten days.
That show also served as a send-off for two of our incredible actors, Emma Verrill and Mat Robedee, both of whom will continue to change the world in their own little ways. We are so thankful to have borrowed their time, dedication and passion as we began our tour and shared our message with eager first-years from across New England. Mat and Emma, you will always be a part of the Speak About It family and we hope to have you both involved in the show again in the future!
With their departure, however, we are excited to welcome Aviva Fiske and Chris Omachi to the cast, both of whom have appeared in Speak About It at Bowdoin College. Check out a little bit more about them on our “About the Cast” section! Aviva and Chris join Shana, Nick, Laura and Dave as we re-vamp and continue our tour with Utica College on Thursday, September 22nd. If you’re in the area and interested in catching the show, please email us at SpeakAboutItOnline (at) gmail (dot) com and we’ll make sure you can get a seat!
You may have noticed that we’ve added a couple new sections to the website, one of which is a “Resources” page. This page will list all of the resources that we mention during performances and help point audience-members to the appropriate resources in their area. The second page, called “Share a Story,” is set up to encourage just that – sharing stories. We believe that everyone, no matter what it may be, has a story about their experience with sex. Whether you’re having it or your not, you want to or you don’t, you’re a survivor or you know someone who is, everyone’s story is different and unique. And if you feel comfortable sharing your story with us, we would be honored to have the opportunity to include it in future versions of our performance. For more information about submitting a story or what that process might look like, please visit our “Share a Story” page.
Happy fall, and we look forward to seeing you on the road!
