A HUGE thank-you to everyone who helped with the production at Colby College on April 6th. This means: everyone who came to our dress rehearsals at Bowdoin College and gave us awesome feedback, Megan and Annmarie from the Sexual Assault Crisis and Support Center in Winthrop, Lydia Bolduc-Marden at Colby College, Houston Kraft for his amazing posters, Dave Surkin of PortSports Social Club for his incredible direction (again), Anna Ausubel for her insight as our Assistant Director and Facilitation Programmer, our wonderful actors Laura Armstrong, Branden Asemah, Shana Natelson and Nick Smith (for more information about our actors and directors, please see the “About the Cast” section of our website), and everyone who came to see the show at Colby College.

As we move forward, we’re excited to start looking ahead to fall 2011 and Orientation programming. We’re already starting to prepare for those performances by getting fun facts and inside jokes from various schools to be able to keep the show as customized as possible. But that’s not all. The cast and directors have decided to stage a number of FLASH MOB-style performances this spring at schools throughout New England. Not sure what a FLASH MOB is? Check out this video that was featured in a T-Mobile ad. We’ll be staging shows in common spaces at various schools, but with a little bit more advanced warning than this impromptu dance performance. We want to keep encouraging and empowering students and sparking dialogue, so we figured the best way was to show up and do a show.
Keep an eye out for more information about when and where these performances will be taking place. If you’re interested in bringing a FLASH MOB to your school before the spring semester is over, please get in contact with us. We are not charging for these shows, we just want to get the word out and spark dialogue!
And as always, if you feel inspired by Speak About It and have your own story to share, please get in touch with us about the possibility of submitting your story to be included in the performances.
